Johnston Sells Ojai Ford Property

The owner of the now-closed Ojai Ford told the OVN Friday he will not pursue another auto dealership at that location, has rejected an offer from Vons to purchase the property, and has sold the property to the Ojai Valley Inn, possibly to be developed into employee housing. This action effectively means the end of a much-needed sales tax base for the city.

Thank you for separating the wheat from the chaff, the news from the snooze, at this blog.

Re subject line: The next story will be the OVInn's plans for the property, which must in aggregate remain 70% open space. What does the public want from this thoughtful private developer?

Good. I was picturing it turning into an inviting target for graffiti "artists" with the requisite broken windows and teenage drinking in the parking lot. Ojai Valley Inn is a responsible neighbor, and will keep the housing/property from being a nuisance/eyesore.

Thank you, Ojai Valley Inn. I was picturing the Ford dealership becoming an inviting target for graffiti "artists" and broken windows and teenage drinking in the parking lot. OVI is a responsible neighbor, and will keep the property from becoming an eyesore and nuisance.
