Gang Unit serves warrants at four locations, more arrests to follow in July 7 incident that ended in suspect being hit by car
The Ventura County District Attorney’s office Tuesday filed street terrorism charges against two Ojai gang members in connection with a July 7 incident wherein one person was struck by a car, according to information provided by Sgt. Bill Schierman.
On July 7, Ojai deputies responded to a disturbance in the 1100 block of Fierro Drive, and found that a car had struck 20-year-old Mario Oseguera during a gang-related disturbance. Oseguera was airlifted to the Ventura County Medical Center where he received treatment.
After investigating the incident, members of the county’s gang unit believed the car accidentally struck Oseguera while he and several other gang members were vandalizing a residence in the 1100 block of Fierro Drive. One of the other suspects in the vandalism was identified as 19-year-old Juan Arriaga.
Last week deputies from the Ojai substation, assisted by the Sheriff’s Gang Unit, served four search warrants on Bonmark Drive, Shady Lane, Quail Street and El Roblar Drive in connection with the vandalism. During the service of the search warrants\, Oseguera and Arriaga were arrested and booked for vandalism and street terrorism. Two high-powered handguns were also seized during the search warrants. Oseguera is being held in custody on $50,000 dollars bail and Arriaga is being held on $200,000 dollars bail.

Thanks to the Sheriff's Gang Unit for serving these warrants and making arrests. It is a scary feeling to run across these people, and their fellow gangmembers, and practically FEEL the potential for violence and their antipathy for others.
It is up to us to support the police, they can't do it all by themselves.
Thank you very much to the cops for makings these arrests and getting a couple of guns out of the hands of these thugs. It is hard to believe that there had not been a drive-by at the hands of these nincompoops.
BTW, your sub-headline says the suspect was hit by an SUV. The picture of the car in the OV News was a green passenger car.
Thanks again to law enforcement. Please keep breathing down the necks of these idiots.
Glad they got the high powered hand guns from these thugs. I am all for citizens having guns but not when they do not buy them legally and intend to use them to terrorize others.
Kudos to the police for a job well done. Let's hope they can arrest all of those bozos and put them away for a long long time.
These young men, including the Rockets, are never going to amount to anything other than criminals. Let's hope the cops are following every move they make and are able to nab them and get them off the streets for good soon. It makes me mad to imagine how much of the taxpayer dollars are going down the toilet dealing with these idiots.
Just what is a high powered hand gun? Are we talking about a .460 S&W Magnum or a .45 ACP, perhaps a 5.7 x 28mm or .22LR? Does the author even know what he is talking about?
Of course Lenny knows what he is talking about! Besides, aren't all hand guns high powered?
The caliber of the two weapons seized was learned by the OVN, but not included in the formal press release.
Darn tootin Lenny knows his firearms. But it does not really matter the caliber, 44 mag, 9mm, 22 target shooter, any gun can produce enough power to kill a person. The point is these idiots had 'em, now they don't
...and the NRA is going to make goddamn sure they have the right to go BIG 5 and buy more high--powered weapons!!
God-Guts-Guns!!! or is it God-Guns-Family....i can never remeber....
Yes, but come on -- Terrorism?! Isn't that showboating a bit?
Just wait 'til you have to live next door to people like this, worry about yourself, your family and your property, and have to think about every move you make like going to the market, going out into your yard, walking the dog, etc.
By definition, the goal of terrorists is to instill fear. How else would you describe gang activities?
I've been overseas for several months now, and not very up to date on the news, but why has OVN decided to release an article about gang arrests but fail to mention a seizure of copious amounts of marijuana in the Los Padres Range about 8 miles north of Ojai? What gives?
You must have missed it:
